paintings by Olaf Zalcman

I started painting as a hobby in 2002. Since that time I have had the chance to sell a certain number of my works. This site shows a number of works I have done so far. Some are part of a personal research, some are orders I have received and others are gifts to friends & relatives.

I like natural patterns, how in real life shapes repeat time after time and never duplicate, always transform. I am also fascinated by how very small changes in colour tone or addition of minor details can dramatically alter the sensations and feelings produced by a whole painting.

A few words about me: I am a Frenchman, born in Finland and who spent most of his life in Paris. I worked many years as music composer and arranger; today I manage an internet business in my new country of residence the Netherlands.

My desire to paint certainly came as a kid from my father Maurice Zalcman (+1996), a graduate artist from the Beaux Arts in Paris. I wish he could still advise me today.

I thank him for the passion he gave me, and I thank all the ones who have encouraged me so fary: Nicole, Marisca, Isabelle, Ami, Lilian, Eddy and Ronald, Carmen, Martin, Christine, Margo, Johan and Astrid, Dennis, Helen, Tietsie and Piet, Anton, Maartje, Julia, Sanja, Bart and Etsuko, Hélène, Marianne, Frédéric and many others...

And greatest thanks to Bogdan for setting up this site!
